Nathan's Grown up!

My son william was born in 1986, all his milestones achieved, a healthy happy little chappy - in 1991 a little brother arrived, Nathan- earlier than expected, and things just seemed "not quite right" from go - Nathan wouldn't/couldn't feed and failed to achieve all the usual mile stones. my boys father walked, and i found myself, on my own coming to terms with the possiblility of an early death for my son Nathan- finally diagnosed at 3 with an extremly rare condition Nathan was being hospitalised for months at a time, undergoinmg surgery and following the medical model of trying to "fix" Nathan with my son William, very young, very frightened and placed with strangers to look after him whilst i tried to cope with specilist appointments and hospital visit/surgery out of county at G.O.S London. A social worker helped me first apply to the familyfund when Nathan was 3- I took driving lessons, had a new washing machine - Nathan loved just working out how to make the machines spin- and over the yrs ran through them reguarly!!! familyfund replaced this essential item and assissted with carpet for my sons bedroom- Over the yrs Familyfund have enabled us to have a holiday or days out when money was very tight. It has been 18 years since Nathans birth,I have remarried, his bother William has left home and is in the Army, Nathan also now has a healthy little brother Leon 5 and latest to the family Josephine just 3, We have had a very varied journey but Familyfund provided much needed support especially in those very isolated early days. Our outlook on life has changed and we look forward to the future with a positive attitude, understanding every individual has something to contribute- with Nathan its his impish grin! and fantastic simplistic wish list- to be Loved.
