Our vision and purpose
Our Vision
“Together we will make a difference to the lives of families with disabled children”
Our vision at Family Fund extra is not only our aspiration, but also the reason that we exist. We can and will only achieve our vision through working together with our friends, families and most importantly our charity, the Family Fund.
Our Purpose
The purpose of Family Fund extra is to find new ways to support and make a difference to all families that care for a disabled child or young person. To ensure we achieve our goal, we form partnerships with organisations and supporters who share our vision, and enable us to help the Family Fund provide grants and support to even more families with severely disabled children.
Many of us will know of someone in our close family or friends who cares for someone with a disability. Some of us may have reached adulthood living with a disability and know the challenges that a family can face in caring for a disabled child or young person.
What we do
At Family Fund extra we work hard to bring choices and the opportunity to enjoy ordinary life to families who care for a disabled child or young person up to the age of 25 years of age, or an independent disabled young person up to this age.
We do this through:
- Engaging retailers to offer discounts and savings to families.
- EXploring ways of spreading the word about Family Fund extra.
- Telling the stories of families to our community of families.
- Raising funds through donations and corporate partnerships.
- Affiliating with retailers to provide donate as you shop opportunities for our supporters.
How we raise funds
The difference Family Fund extra makes is only possible through the generosity of our supporters and partners who help us in raising funds.
Our partners often offer discounts to us, recycle and fundraise for us. Our supporters donate and shop with us. All of these activities generate valuable funds to make a difference to thousands of severely disabled children and young people across the UK.
How our funds are spent
All monies that are donated to Family Fund extra through donations or fundraising, by either our supporters or partners, are gifted to our charity the Family Fund. That’s £1 in every £1 going to help make a difference to the life of a child or young person with a severe disability. We are able to make this promise because Family Fund extra uses a proportion of its income received from recycling or shopping to cover all operational costs. The remaining income received from these activities also goes to help low income families who care for a severely disabled child.
The gift from Family Fund extra enables the Family Fund to provide grants and support to more families with severely disabled children. Despite receiving funding from the governments of England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales, and making efficiencies to allow 90p in every £1 to be distributed in grants, the Family Fund still cannot meet the needs of all of the families who care for a severely disabled child or young person across the UK.
